Albert Namatjira, founder of the Indigenous art movement in Australia, is the most famous and most influential Indigenous Australian artist of all time.

He was made an Australian citizen ten years before any other Indigenous person, however his legacy, unfortunately, like many others of his brothers and sisters, is one that’s treated with neglect, contempt, disrespect, and disdain.

Namatjira, and his work, is intrinsic to the historical development of Australia’s national identity. Yet his story, and that of his family’s struggle, is, for all intents and purposes, shunned.

The Namatjira documentary sought to change that. The documentary trailer and press kit is speaks for the family’s struggle, and is compelling for anyone interested in the politics of Indigenous Australia.
