Your next chapter starts here: create.able.’s School-leavers Transition Program launches 19 October
Finished school—or preparing for what comes next? If you love making videos, designing, creating art or have come up with a business idea you’d like to explore further, then this could be the starting point for your future.
Launching on Monday 19 October 2026, create.able.’s School-leavers Transition Program brings together creative projects, everyday independence and supported work experience to help young people explore their next steps.
Based at our working studio in Rouse Hill, the nine-week program is designed for people with disability and neurodivergence aged 17–35. Whether you’re ready to explore employment, build confidence or develop the skills to manage your day more independently, there’s a place to begin.
Four programs. Your own pathway.
You can choose one program or combine several across the week, creating a timetable around your interests, goals and support needs.
The Filmmaker™
Mondays and Tuesdays | 9.30am–3pm
Join the film crew and take a story from its first idea to the big screen.
Explore camera, sound, lighting, editing and production using professional equipment. Across nine weeks, you’ll make a personal short film and collaborate on a film for a real client brief from Author or Pavilion Theatre.
Along the way, you’ll practise the skills creative workplaces value: communicating with a team, taking direction, following a schedule and meeting deadlines.
The term finishes with a film premiere—and two finished films with your name in the credits. You choose your role, with opportunities both behind and in front of the camera.
The Life Lab
Wednesdays | 9.30am–3pm
Build everyday independence through something you actually want to create.
Choose a project such as an artwork, animation, photo series or zine, then practise the life skills that help bring it to life. Plan your routine, budget for materials, organise your workspace and take a supported shopping journey.
You’ll also work with the group to plan and host a showcase lunch. By the end of term, you’ll have a finished creative piece and a personal toolkit of planners, budgets and practical strategies to use beyond the studio.
Finding & Keeping a Job in the Creative Industries
Thursdays and Fridays | 9.30am–3pm
Discover what creative work looks like in a real workplace.
Thursdays focus on preparation in the studio: workplace communication, teamwork, time management and creative industry skills. Following preparation and induction, Fridays provide supported work experience matched to your goals.
Our host network includes Pavilion Theatre, Author, Vision Graphics, Prosper, Academy Studios and more! Experiences are arranged around participant suitability and host availability.
You’ll build work samples, develop your résumé and portfolio, receive supervisor feedback and practise a job interview with an industry professional.
The Launch Lab
Saturdays | 10am–2.30pm
Got a creative idea for a business? Give it a test run.
The Launch Lab helps you explore a product or service idea and find out what potential customers think.
Make a prototype, develop your brand, work out costs and pricing, and practise handling enquiries and orders. The program finishes with a showcase market where you can present your offer and use what you’ve learned to decide your next step.
A supportive place to create and connect
Starting something new can feel like a big step. Our programs bring structure, practical support and opportunities to connect with people who share your interests.
Sessions include clear routines, planned breaks and choices about how you participate. Creative industry professionals guide the work, and staff support participants during outings and workplace experiences.
We begin with a conversation about your goals and support needs. Progress is recorded throughout the term, with an end-of-term review to recognise what you’ve achieved and plan what comes next.
Finish with something to show
The program runs from 19 October to 19 December 2026, finishing with Showcase Week.
From a film premiere and creative exhibition to portfolio presentations and a market, participants will have opportunities to share their work with families, supporters and industry guests.
It’s a chance to celebrate new skills, new connections and the next step in each person’s pathway.
NDIS funding and enrolment
The programs are designed to support goals relating to employment, independence and participation. Depending on the program and the support delivered, relevant NDIS funding may include Finding and Keeping a Job, Improved Daily Living, or Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation.
Programs are available to self-managed and plan-managed participants. Some expenses and excursion incidentals are separate from program fees.
Let’s explore your next step
